James Bruce

James' short story THE GOOD EXILE'S GRUB narrowly missed winning third prize in the 2016 Crimson Cloak Publishing short story writing competition, losing out only to a tie-break.

James Bruce is an English-born student currently reading undergraduate Physics at Oxford University. His passion for writing and communicating stories began somewhere in the childhood haze of Saturday afternoons watching movies from the fifties and old episodes of The Twilight Zone. His favourite book is Watership Down by Richard Adams "though not everyone," he says, "should read it." Though 'The Good Exile's Grub' is his only currently published story, the future is at least statistically likely to contain more stories available to the public. His short stories often contain aspects of the fantastic, and as often as not, convey his love of nature, ridicule, and adventure.

THE RIDER consists of the prizewinning and best runner-up stories of 1500-3000 words, based around a stock picture, that were entered in the 2016 Crimson Cloak Publishing short story writing competition.
