Kathryn Howarth

I was born
in the middle of the last century in a large town in Lancashire, England. Due to my father's work I was lucky to grow up in different parts of Southern Africa. I met and married my husband in what is now Zimbabwe and we lived for 25 fantastic years in Cape Town, South Africa with our five children.

From an early age my mother taught me how to sew, knit and cook which I have always enjoyed and my father instilled in me that if you can read you can do any crafting project.

Growing up in the bush instilled an interest in natural healing which only grew over the years to come. I began studying herbs and medicinal plants in more detail in my twenties and later took this to another level by qualifying as a Clinical Aromatherapist. Part of the course was making skin care products, and  I also learned how to make soap.

Teaching my eleven grand children to enjoy crafting has been a very satisfying endeavour.

Being recently widowed has made me re-evaluate my life, which has led me to write a book to share all the knowledge and skills I have accumulated through the years.

I now live in Surrey, England with my Yorkshire terrier, Boris, making soap, aromatherapy products and jam for our local market.
