Lynne North lives in a countryside area in the North West of England. She has a lifetime love of books and reading, and always longed to have a book published. Her first children’s fantasy, “Caution: Witch in Progress” was launched at Earls Court Book Fair in 2013.
Lynne is now delighted to be an author and Marketing Director for Crimson Cloak Publishing. Her novel ‘Be Careful What You Wish For’ was released on St. Patrick's Day 2016. ‘Caution: Witch in Progress’ was rereleased, and ‘Zac’s Destiny’ also released later in 2016. Lynne has since written a short children’s fantasy, two role play game books, and a book of macabre short stories, ‘Unlucky For Some’ definitely not for children!
Lynne has taken early retirement from a full time job as a data analyst to dedicate herself to her first love, writing.
Finn is a bored young leprechaun. He lives with his mum and dad in a small village named Duntappin, and goes to the local school there. He spends most of his free time with his best friend Dallan, but craves some excitement in his life. Unfortunately, Finn missed out on being blessed by the Good Luck Fairy and soon gets far more than he bargained for. He finds himself a long way from home in the hands of a travelling circus where he is little more than a ‘freak’ to amuse the customers.
Lynne's stories The Fiery Sneeze and Gordon's Great Adventure appear in volume 5 of the Crimson Cloak Anthologies Santa's Little Helpers This book is available in two print versions - a luxury full colour edition, as well as more reasonably priced in black and white:
Emily lives in the quiet village of Oak Haven with her Mum, Dad and her lovely dog, Toby. Her life is a happy and peaceful one, but there is more to Emily than meets the eye. The young girl has a very strong connection with animals, one that becomes even more apparent when she enters the wood that lies just outside the village. Strange things happen in the wood, and Emily isn’t convinced whether the wood has magical powers, or even if she herself has special abilities. Whatever the reason, life is never quite the same when she is there.
Emily’s problems really begin when she discovers that goblins have come to her precious wood. They are making the woodland creatures’ lives a misery, and seem intent on staying.
Not if Emily can help it...

In Caution: Witch in Progress by Lynne North, we meet Gertie who comes from a long line of witches, the kind with a wart on the end of their crooked nose. However, Gertie’s appearance is a bit of a disappointment; her nose is straight without any signs of a wart, her skin is a normal healthy color and she was not born with sharp pointy teeth. The residents of Vile Vale are all witches and warlocks and they were shocked to see a "normal" child in their midst.
Gertie is a pleasant, loving child with great compassion for others, including toads. When Gertie goes to a special private school for supernatural children, she meets some very odd characters: a talking grouchy umbrella named Bat, a toad named Wart, an owl with eye problems, and a monster with a tummy ache. Gertie doesn't fit in very well with the other students but does make one friend, Bertha. Gertie has all the qualities humans could possibly want in their child: beauty, kindness, and compassion. She isn't very good at casting spells, which is tough when you are a witch.
I absolutely love this tale. Gertie is a character with personality that jumps off the page. Readers will find they are laughing out loud at some of the antics. Caution: Witch in Progress by Lynne North is a tale about growing up. Poor Gertie faces the same situations that children face every day, the struggle to fit in. I can easily see this becoming a popular series. I hope the author will expand this idea into a whole series of books, movies, and toys.
Gertie Grimthorpe is born into a society of witches and grows up in Vile Vale, but there is something very wrong with her ... she is beautiful and couldn't be nasty if she tried. When she finds out that she is to attend a private academy for magical children, Gertie hopes to find her witchy way in the world. With a moat monster suffering from stomach ache, a short-sighted owl familiar, and mishaps galore, Gertie's adventures are hilarious and heartwarming. Join Gertie as she struggles with growing up (and longing to grow her first wart), learning magic and working out how to deal with a grumpy enchanted umbrella, named Bat.
5 star review from Amazon USA for Caution: Witch in Progress -
A book for all ages and families. An unusual witch perseveres with her desire to be a full-fledged witch, and ultimately outperforms her worst critics. Think the Ugly Duckling, Harry Potter and Wicked.
