I am a Mother, Grandmother and a Great Grandmother living in the Borough of Dagenham in the county of Essex. From my Catholic Convent schooling in the 1960ís, I have worked in several factories, spent most of my working life employed by banks and I have recently worked with children in a Catholic Primary School.
I enjoy travelling, encountering new cultures and meeting new friends along the way. My interests are attending creative writing courses, writing stories across a diversity of genres, both fictional and biographical. I also attend an art class, painting in watercolours as another expression of creativity.
Verity is full of apprehension as she starts her first day at the Catholic Convent School. Here she encounters laughter, antics, fear and oppression. In the grounds of the school a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary brings her comfort. In faith she has always known that she is her spiritual mother watching over her. Her childhood is fading away and her teenage years bring new challenges and barriers, which she learns to overcome with the wisdom of her motherís words.
Now a grandmother, Verityís recollections of past days are told to her granddaughter Laura, who needs a real life story from the 1960s for her university studies. Secrets are kept secret, but Lauraís words have a way of bringing the past to life again.
