Christine Perry
Born in Salford, UK.
Involved in a serious road traffic accident aged ten. I broke almost every bone in my body and suffered a very serious head injury. Doctors said I would be a cabbage when I woke up. Nothing of the kind. I came out of a fourteen week coma with my usual quick wit and to my mother’s despair was still a dare devil.
Art and in some ways, writing has always been my passion.
I have worked mainly in office / management.
I showed pedigree cats all over the UK for many years, until sadly I lost my husband then it was not so much fun, it was a hobby we shared.
Amongst a long list of qualifications, I have a post graduate degree in Homeopathy. This has been very beneficial in creating my hedgerow witches.
I wrote a regular full length double page feature, Mother Nature’s Remedies, every two weeks in ‘Our Cats’ newspaper.
Married nearly forty years, sadly my husband died 10 years ago.
I am now sixty eight years old.
I have a variety of hobbies.
Three years ago, I painted a series of three witches. An artist friend said I really should write a book about them. I liked this idea and the option of writing a book went into the back burner of my mind and to be honest it might have stayed there … until … A comment made by Sir David Attenborough, relating to dangers of losing our bee population was the trigger for my inspiration.
My first book Witch Queen Bee?
Conservation is the theme throughout the book. A young girl Lieve is supported by Jimmy when school bullies are faced. Lieve comes from a family of conservationists. Introductions to the hand rearing of hedgehogs, repairing broken wings. Lieve’s aunties and the mysteries of their witchcraft, religion, sociology, unexpected love stories, tales and legends that span multi generations. A nasty sister and the local Chief Inspector cast worry over the family as they try to keep an old secret concealed. The conservation of bees runs through the book as their primary school aims to have its own apiary, all this in the humour of family dynamics.
As a first time author I am, I think more than blessed to be under the wing Of Crimson Cloak Publishing where everyone has been so supportive.
